- ... plus loads more coming very soon ...
LifeTools - based in England - are Europe's largest mail order supplier of light and sound devices (including the Mindlab Proteus), plus tapes and CDs for relaxation, helping you sleep better, boosting your energy, improving your memory, lifting confidence ... and much more!
There are loads of 'relaxation' tapes and CDs around, but they're often that jingly-jangly New Age music which, er, isn't to everyone's taste! Instead, I bought something much better from Lifetools - about 5 years ago - called a 'light and sound device', which is basically a little machine - the Mindlab Proteus - which you plug headphones and some spacey-looking things which look a bit like sunglasses into - high-tech enough to satisfy any gadget-freak, but easy enough to use if he or she is a real technophobe!
You select a 'program' (maybe 'Deep Relaxation' or 'Quick Work Break'), lie down, close your eyes, start the program (which ranges from 10 minutes to an hour) and you get soothing rhytmical sounds in your ears and pretty-coloured LED lights flashing onto your eyelids.
What you get - with the Mindlab Proteus - is all the benefits of a short sleep, but without actually having to go to sleep and without the grogginess you get after waking up from a sleep during the day. Or, if you like, the benefits of meditation without having to spend years focussing on a candle-flame or reciting some weird-sounding words.
It's particularly brilliant if you're tired after a day's work - you finish the session feeling completely fresh again and ready for just about anything!
Depending on which program you choose, the Mindlab Proteus can help perk you up in the morning (maybe the day after a late night), get you ready for a late night's clubbing, give you extra energy whenever you need it, help get you to sleep, or help with learning, memory or concentration.. It's also great if, like me, you're self-employed and want to do something as a break between the working day and a relaxing evening. I normally do a short, 16 minute, program just before dinner, or might choose a longer one if I'm feeling tired.
As you can tell, I'm really enthusiastic about my Proteus and wouldn't be without it. If you want to ask us any questions about it (we both use it regularly), just to email us. We're here to help ... and that's the LovefromMe difference.
The Mindlab Proteus costs only £179 and Lifetools offer a 60-day 100% no-risk money-back guarantee - so if you think the special person in your life might benefit from one, just give it a try - there's absolutely nothing to lose, and they'll have a lot of fun trying it out!
You can buy it for less elsewhere, but without that important 60-day trial period - and I reckon that's worth paying a bit extra for.

- answered by Chris Payne, founder of Lifetools
Can I use my own music tapes while using a light and sound device?
Yes! Simply connect any tape player into the side of any of these light and sound devices using the free lead. As an example, if your tape/CD lasts 32 minutes, just select a 35 minute session and start your tape/CD player. The Proteus will enable you to enjoy your music to the full.
Do I have to use a tape/CD player?
No, the Mindlab Proteus has built-in electronics to create rhythmic tones - there are no tapes inside. You can mix these tones with music coming from your tape/CD player -- or switch these tones off because about 80% of the effect comes from the light patterns.
What can I expect to experience with the Proteus just on its own?
The main thing to say is that 99% of people who buy one of these from Lifetools find it relaxes them.
Here's my experience with light and sound devices: I feel myself relaxing very quickly, faster than any meditation or relaxation technique I've tried before. At the end of 20 minutes or so my mind seems very quiet - similar to the deep quiet you suddenly notice in a kitchen during a powercut. It's only then that you notice the background hum of the fridge has stopped, but you hadn't really noticed the hum before, so you're doubly amazed!
Can two people use a Mindlab Proteus at the same time?
Yes, two people can share the experience of a session: you'll need a second set of liteframes, a second pair of headphones and two splitters - one to split the sound and the other to split the lights. We sell extra liteframes and splitters on this site.
How does the Proteus help with learning?
Losanov's research in Bulgaria, as reported in books like Super Learning and Accelerated Learning, showed that deep relaxation dramatically improved anybody's ability to learn and recall information. The Mindlab Proteus will help you achieve deep relaxation so you can concentrate your mind.
During extensive tests over a four-year period at Arizona State University, 85% of those who used ‘super learning’ sessions on a light and sound device reported improved test scores when the session was used immediately prior to taking the test. 50% reported significantly decreased test anxieties. Other reports include large increases in creativity and writing abilities.
What's the best way to use the Mindlab Proteus when studying?
If you have your material, such as a language course, on tape or CD then you simply play it while using a ‘Learn’ session on the Proteus. If you are studying a book you should read for half an hour to 45 minutes then use the Proteus for 15 minutes.
Research also indicates that deep relaxation after a study session can improve recall as it helps information to be absorbed.
Another way is to study while listening to the rhythmic tones. Some people find that they focus more on the page they're reading, and are less distracted by mind chatter.
What other benefits are there?
Special 'Energise' sessions can help perk you up in the morning, the day after a late night, the evening before a late night, or any time you need extra energy.
Also, the Proteus may help you break negative emotional ‘conversations’ where you play out make-believe events in your head or re-run past injustices. It does this by diverting your attention, and enabling you to feel calmer and more centred.
What are 'binaural beats', as used in the Mindlab Proteus?
A researcher called Robert Monroe looked for sound patterns to help induce the deepest relaxation states. He found that by giving each ear its own frequency sound to listen to, the two sound waves were interpreted by the brain to produce a ‘difference’ frequency. For example, if one ear heard 400Hz (cycles per second) and the other 404Hz a brainwave frequency of 4Hz was induced, which is the frequency corresponding to the ‘theta’ brainwave state - the state our brains are in during the first stages of sleep.
With this example, what you will gain is a period of relaxation equivalent to the regenerating benefits of sleep, without having to go to sleep and without the grogginess you get if you actually have a sleep during the day!
Will the Proteus work for me?
At Lifetools, we offer a 60-day 100% no-risk money-back guarantee - so if you think you may benefit from one, just give it a try. there is nothing to lose, and you'll have a lot of fun trying it out!

French women don't diet, says Mimi Spencer in Observer Food Monthly, and they don't get fat either. Here's how:
- Forget diets. French women don't stay slim by counting calories. They eat food they like, but have small portions.
- Make a rule not to eat standing up, while on the move, in front of the television, or at your desk: it only encourages snacking. Instead, eat three times a day and do so while sifting at a table with other people.
- Eat slowly. Over a long lunch you'll chew food for longer and feel more full on less.
- Finish a meal with a small piece of Brie and you will feel full until your next meal.
- Apart from a glass of wine, drink only water. The French would never dream of having any other liquids with a meal.
- Eat lots of bread, which the French don't believe is fattening, but avoid packaged sandwiches: they're full of mayonnaise.
- Don't join a gym: it's terribly vulgar. Rather, go for a swim, ride a bike or walk.
Lessen the damage caused by high heels with these tips from the Sunday Times:
- Wear your highest heels for only 2 or 3 hours a day - a 2-inch heel increases the weight on the ball of your foot by 50% and a 3-inch heel by 80%.
- If possible, vary your heel heights during the day to help ease the pressure.
- Travel to work in trainers: you'll keep the muscles and ligaments in your feet more flexible.
- If you often see red marks on your feet, have your feet measured professionally. Buy the widest-fitting pair of shoes that don't slip off when you walk.
- Don't wear the same pair of shoes two days in a row-they need time to dry out so that your feet can "breathe" properly.
To The Daily Telegraph
If smokers just smoked, life would be simple, but apart from smoking they have atrocious lifestyles. A meta-analysis of more than 50 studies showed they have a higher intake of saturated fat and cholesterol, and lower intakes of beta carotene, vitamins C and E, folate and fibre. Dietary factors are known to strongly affect the risk of heart disease and cancer. It is smoking combined with an unhealthy lifestyle that causes many smokers' diseases. I have yet to see a paper showing that non-smokers live longer than smokers with an otherwise healthy lifestyle. Apart from the unquestionably strong link between smoking and lung cancer, smoking protects against Parkinson's, cancer of the womb, post-menopausal breast cancer, ulcerative colitis, pre-eclampsia and, to a lesser extent, Alzheimer's.
Should people not have the right to choose between a quick death from lung cancer and a slow death from Parkinson's disease? In recent years, the oldest woman in the world was Jeanne Calment in France who died aged 122. Her physicians persuaded her to quit smoking at 117. Was her longevity due to a Mediterranean diet and her two glasses of wine a day? The oldest man was a Cambodian who lived to 114 and smoked until the day he died. Was it the lack of saturated fat and the high vegetable intake in his diet? The hard fact is that they both smoked. Obesity, if unchecked, will kill far more people than smoking accompanied by a healthy lifestyle ever did.

creators of the Erogenator.
This is what the company says about the Erogenator:
Erogenator head massager is quite simply the best quality product of its kind on the market, and we are so confident of this that we offer a money-back guarantee on every one sold!
The Erogenator is not the same product as the Orgasmatron. It is a similar concept, but the Erogenator is of a far higher quality.
"The Erogenator is the ultimate relief for stress, headaches, tension and is lots of fun and rather sexy to use. It has been specifically designed to uniquely massage the nerve endings on your scalp and neck, causing an amazing feeling which can be felt in zones all over your body.
"Because the feelers come into direct contact with the head, we have used copper as the primary material as it is said to have great healing qualities. Therefore not only does the Erogenator feel fantastic, it is very good for you too, and can relieve stress, tension, headaches and other minor ailments.
"Overall, The Erogenator makes an ideal gift for the special person in your life, or even yourself!"
The Erogenator costs only £17, with FREE UK postage! (the one shown, in the nice red heart bag, is £18)
Q: How does the Erogenator work?
A: It’s simply the tension of the 10 points of copper wire as they gently move around the head causing the amazing and tingly sensations.
Q: Does the Erogenator use batteries?
A: No it’s totally manual and natural!
Q: Will it hurt?
A: No it’s actual a very gentle feeling and definitely won’t hurt.
Q: Will it fit big heads?
A: Yes, actually any size head from a baby's head to a huge head, because the copper is totally adjustable.
Q: Is the Erogenator the same as the Heebeegeebee, the Tingting, the Orgasmatron, The Tingler, or the Head Ecstacy Head Massagers?
A: No, the Erogenator is a far better quality product than all of those other head massagers. The Erogenator is the only one made in Britain, and the only one to have a lifetime guarantee.
Q: What is the Erogenator made of?
A: A weighted aluminium handle, and coloured copper wire, which is not only very bendable but has great healing qualities too.
Q: Can it be used on bald heads?
A: Absolutely. It is actually irrelevant whether you have hair or not as the arms go straight through the hair onto the scalp anyway.
Q: How do I find out how to use it when it arrives?
A: It comes with an easy to follow instruction booklet. There are also additional instructions that can be found in our online user guide
Q: Will it make my hair grow?
A: This is such a common question. It is well known that stimulating the scalp increases circulation to the hair follicles. It hasn’t yet been proven that this stimulates hair growth, but we are working on it!
Q: Is it good for headaches?
A: Absolutely - it can really help with anything that is stress or tension related.
Q: Can I use it myself?
A: Yes you certainly can. However, most people find they relax more if they have a friend do it for them, but if you have a headache spot, it is good to use it yourself as you know the exact place to concentrate on.
Q: Will it break? (what a question!)
A: In the unlikely instance that it does, we offer a lifetime guarantee. Look at our guarantee page for further information.

On winter mornings, a bowl of porridge is a comforting breakfast; but it may also be the ultimate health food, says Angela Epstein in the Daily Mail. Here are six good reasons to get your oats:
- Eases hangovers: Oats neutralise acidity levels in the body and help absorb toxins; porridge is also a good source of soluble fibre, which will ease a digestive system ravaged by a night on the tiles.
- Fights heart disease: Many studies have shown that fibre-rich foods reduce the risk of heart disease. But scientists have discovered that porridge also contains avenanthramides, chemicals that prevent the fatty deposits that cause heart disease.
- Boosts energy and concentration: Porridge contains complex carbohydrates which release sugar slowly, so that your concentration and energy levels are maintained until lunchtime.
- Eases depression: Porridge is a good source of vitamin B6, which is thought to promote the brain chemical Serotonin, which is associated with feelings of wellbeing.
- Fights cancer: Oats are rich in the antioxidant vitamin E, which protects the body from the free radicals that damage DNA, causing cancer. The soluble fibre in porridge may also help prevent bowel, colon and breast cancer.
- Contains essential minerals: Porridge contains manganese, which helps build bones, and zinc, which is needed for a healthy immune system, among other things.
MPs in Hungary are considering introducing a ban on jokes about blondes following a series of demonstrations. 'People are banned from discriminating against Jews and blacks," said a spokesman for the Blonde Women's Movement, which is leading the campaign. "Why not grant blondes the same protection?"

Imagine a herbal remedy that, with no known side-effects, causes cancerous tumours to shrink, and even disappear. It sounds improbable, but a British doctor claims that a treatment used in India does exactly that. Carctol, a combination of eight medicinal herbs, is taken in conjunction with a non-acidic diet, a digestive enzyme and a lot of water three to five litres a day.
Its effects, according to Dr Rosy Daniel, can be miraculous. "All science starts with observation, and I am not claiming anything for Carctol. I am reporting a phenomenon," she told The Daily Telegraph. "Over the years I have seen a number of remarkable recoveries but since I have been putting people on Carctol I have seen miracles."
She believes the treatment works because cancerous cells are acidic and cannot thrive in the alkaline environment it creates in the body. Most experts, including proponents of complementary medicine, are highly sceptical about Carctol. However, Daniel - formerly medical director of the British Cancer Help Centre - argues that it should at least be subjected to clinical trials.
